[brain multidrug resistance protein] This protein has been identified by Eisenblaetter and Galla (2002) by differential screening of subtracted cDNA libraries. The gene is overexpressed in porcine brain capillarry endothelial cells cultured in serum-free medium supplemented with hydrocortisone. The identified gene is an ATP binding cassette gene family member and most related to human BCRP. The protein is expressed also in endothelial cells from brain capillaries in vivo.

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD338.
