[Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 2; CEA-related cell adhesion molecule 2]. The murine CEACAM2 gene shows high similarity with CEACAM1 (CD66a) and has been identified originally as Bgp2 [Biliary glycoprotein 2] (Nédellec P et al, 1994). There is no counterpart in humans. For nomenclature regarding this and related proteins, including their structures, see also Beauchemin et al (1999).

The protein exists in several splice isoforms that are expressed differentially in different tissues (Nedellec et al, 1994; Han et al, 2001; Salaheldeen et al, 2012).
