[Fibroblast growth factor-15] This protein is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of proteins. The FGF15 gene is expressed in a regionally restricted pattern in the developing nervous system and was identified as a gene the expression of which is regulated by transcription factor E2A-Pbx1 (McWhirter et al, 1997). Kurose et al (2004) have reported that FGF15 is expressed in the optic vesicle, a subset of progenitor cells of neural retina, and emerging ganglion and amacrine cells during retinogenesis in the chicken embryo.
Mouse FGF15 is the sequence ortholog of chick and human FGF19
