Kininostatin [kininogen(438-531)] (Colman et al, 2000) is a bioactive fragment (see also: cryptides) derived from the KNG1 [kininogen, kininogen-1] gene, which is the precursor for various bioactive proteins. Kininostatin corresponds to residues 438-531 of high molecular weight kininogen, which corresponds to high molecular weight kininogen domain 5. Kininostatin, also called kininogen D5 domain, has cell binding sites, anti-angiogenic properties, and attachment sites for heparin binding (Guo and Colman, 2005; Colman, 2006).
