NAIL
[NK-cell activation-inducing ligand] This protein has been identified by Kubin et al (1999), using a monoclonal antibody, C1.7. The protein is closely related to murine 2B4 and human CD84 and CD48. The antigen has been given the designation CD244, which is also the approved gene symbol.
NAIL binds to CD48 and this interaction enhances the cytotoxicity of NK-cells and induces production of IFN-gamma.
