The approved gene symbol is KLRF1 [killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily F member 1]. The protein is being referred to also as Lectin-like receptor F1. A previous databank designation is CLEC5C [C-type lectin domain family 5 member C].
NKp80 has been identified by Vitale et al (2001) as a triggering NK-cell receptor expressed at the cell surface as a dimer of approximately 80 kDa. The protein is identical with KLRF1 described by Roda-Navarro et al (2000) who also described alternatively spliced variants of this receptor (Roda-Navarro et al, 2001). NKp80 is not found in rodents (Welte et al, 2006).
