NLRP8

[NLR family, pyrin-domain containing 8] This is the approved gene symbol for a protein described as NALP8 [NACHT-LRR-PYD-containing protein-8] (Tschopp et al, 2003), and NOD16 [Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein 16]. The protein is known also as PAN4 [PAAD and NACHT-containing protein 4]. The protein is a member of the CLR family (NLR family) and is known also as CLR19.2 (Harton et al, 2002; for nomenclature see also: Ting et al, 2008).

Tian et al (2009) have reported that NLRP8 is universal in mammals except for rodents where it may have been lost during evolution.
