[receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase] This protein is a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan with an intracellular tyrosine phosphatase domain. The protein is involved in the survival of embryonic neurons (Sakaguchi et al, 2003).
PTP has been shown to be involved in the migration of embryonic neurons (Maeda et al, 1999) and osteoblast-like cells (Qi et al, 2001) in response to midkine. PTP is also a receptor for pleiotrophin for the migration of embryonic neurons (Maeda and Noda, 1998).
