[T-cell enhancing factor] This biochemically uncharacterized factor of > 30 kDa has been found to be produced constitutively and secreted into the conditioned media of T-cell hybridomas. It augments delayed-type hypersensitivity in vivo and this activity depends on the presence of T-cells in the immunizing inoculum.
TCEF is functionally distinguishable from IL1, IL2, IL3, IL4, IL5, IL6, IFN-gamma, and TNF-alpha. The factor is also not identical with GM-CSF.
