[Toll-interacting protein] The cDNAs encoding mouse, worm, and human TOLLIP have been isolated by Burns et al (2000). TOLLIP is expressed ubiquitously in mouse tissues.
TOLLIP has been shown to bind to IL1RAcP, a complex of IL1RAcP and IL1 receptor-1, and to the IL18 receptor (Burns et al, 2000). TOLLIP is known to be involved in signaling through the IL1 and TLR receptors (TLR2, TLR4) through interactions with IRAK1 (Bulut et al, 2001).
