Lactosylceramide (Beta-Gal-(1-4)-beta-Glc-(1-1)-Cer; Gal beta 1,4Glc beta 1,1Cer; Galbeta4Glcbeta1Cer)) is a glycosphingolipid known also CDH [Ceramide dihexoside], dihexosylceramide, Cytolipin H in older references. Lactosylceramide is a ubiquitous glycosphingolipid in mammalian tissues. Lactosylceramide is synthesized from glucosylceramide (GlcCer; Glucocerebroside) through the transfer of galactose from UDP-Gal by an enzyme activity usually being referred to as LacCer
