This octapeptide, GKVLKKRR (Gly-Lys-Val-Leu-Lys-Lys-Arg-Arg) corresponds to the ACTH like amino acids 81-88 of human pro-interleukin-1-alpha (pro-interleukin-1-alpha(81-88); proIL1-alpha(81-88)). It is not known whether the peptide is generated from IL1-alpha in vivo and might constitute a bioactive cryptide (see also: Immunocortin [ACTH-like Peptide].
