Lycocitin-1 (GKLQAFLAKMKEIAAQTLamide),
Lycocitin-2 (GRLQAFLAKMKEIAAQTLamide), and
Lycocitin-3 (KIKWFKTMKSLAKFLAKEQMKKHLGE) are antimicrobial peptides detected in the venom glands of the wolf spider Lycosa singoriensis. Lycocitin-2 differs from lycocitin-1 by a replacement of a lysine(2) for arginine. Lycocitin-3 differs from lycotoxin-2 found in another wolf spider species by a deletion of Gly-26 (Budnik et al, 2004).
Lycocitin-1 and Lycocitin-2 inhibit growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli
