The development of thrombocytes involves a series of developmental steps beginning with megakaryoblasts. These develop into promegakaryocytes, which, in turn, develop into megakaryocytes. Thrombocytes constitute the final end product and circulate in the peripheral blood (Li and Kuter, 2002). Platelets are non-nucleated fragments of the cytoplasm of megakaryocytes
