yes is a non-receptor cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinase (62 kDa) of unknown function belonging to the src family of tyrosine kinases. The human gene, which is the cellular counterpart of the transforming oncogene of the Y73 avian sarcoma virus (Yamaguchi sarcoma virus), is a proto-oncogene that maps to chromosome 18p11.32 less than 50 kb apart from the gene encoding thymidylate synthase. The yes gene at chromosome 18p is referred to as yes-1; a pseudogene, designated yes-2, is located at chromosome 22q11.2. In addition there are other yes-related sequences in the human genome that have not been mapped.
