[abundant src homology] The 25 kDa protein ASH contains one SH2 domain and two SH3 domains (see: src homology domains). It was cloned by screening a human and rat cDNA gene library with an oligonucleotide probe directed to a consensus sequence of the SH2 domain (Matuoka et al, 1992). The amino acid sequence of ASH is strikingly similar to Sem-5 [Sex muscle abnormal protein 5], the product of a nematode (Caenorhabditis elegans) cell-signaling gene. ASH is most likely a homolog of
