[apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer in the nucleus] Gene symbol ACIN1 [apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer 1] abbr. also ACN. Acinus is a nuclear factor that is cleaved by Caspase-3. Activation yields an active chromatin condensating factor (see also pyknosis) that induces apoptotic chromatin condensation without inducing DNA fragmentation (Sahara et al, 1999).
