[Argopecten irradians Peptidoglycan recognition protein] This protein from the bivalve Argopecten irradians has been described by Ni et al (2007). The protein of 205 amino acids shares high identity with peptidoglycan binding proteins in other organisms, such as PGRP precursor in Trichoplusia ni and PGRP-SC2 in Drosophila melanogaster (see: PGRP). The gene is expressed in hemocytes, gonad and kidney. Upregulated expression is seen in hemocytes after stimulation by Peptidoglycan.
