[BCLxL/BCL2 associated death promoter; BCL2 antagonist of cell death; BCL2-associated agonist of cell death] This protein was identified in a screen aimed at identifying proteins interacting with the anti-apoptotic protein BCL2. The term BCL2L8 [BCL2-like-8] has been used synonymously for BAD. A databank synonym is BBC6 [BCL2-binding component 6].
