The protein (108 amino acids) contains a BH3 domain. The protein is localized predominantly in the cytosol and to a lesser extent in mitochondria. Ectopic expression of BRCC2 in eukaryotic cells causes cell death by apoptosis and coincides with expression of caspase-3 and caspase-9.
