[BIR repeat containing ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme] BRUCE is a membrane-associated protein of 528 kDa that localizes to the Golgi compartment and the vesicular system. The protein contains a BIR domain (see: IAP). It functions as a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (Hauser et al, 1998). Murine BRUCE is a homolog of Apollon. Thus, BRUCE is the same as BIRC6 [baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein-6].
