An immortalized murine bone marrow-derived pro-B-cell line with a pre-B-cell phenotype (Palacios and Steinmetz, 1985). Growth and proliferation of these cells depend on the presence of IL3 (Palacios et al, 1984) (see also: Factor-dependent cell lines, BMC). When cultured in the presence of IL3, or other growth-promoting factors, BaF3 cells are highly resistant to X-irradiation and the cytotoxic drugs etoposide and cisplatin (Collins et al, 1992).
