CD65

[CD65(+), CD65(-)]

Other designations:

Ceramide dodecasaccharide

VIM-2.

This carbohydrate antigen is expressed on myeloid cells and monocytes. CD65 or CD65s are absent from CFU-GEMM or BFU-E and appear at the late CFU-GM and myeloblast stage (Macher and Beckstead; 1990; Bordessoule et al, 1993; Delwel et al, 1987; Kishimoto et al, 1998).

CD65 is a fucosylated carbohydrate antigen on the cell surface. It is formed by fucosylation of the inner lactosamine unit of alpha-2,3-sialylated polylactosamine by alpha-1,3-fucosyltransferase (Bordessoule et al, 1993; Niemela et al, 1998; Kono et al, 1997).

The antigen also exists in a sialylated form, termed ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
