Csk-homologous kinase |
ADAM metallopeptidase domain 14 |
||
This cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase downregulates the tyrosine kinase activity of the cellular src protein through tyrosine phosphorylation (see also: PTK; protein tyrosine kinase).
Since cell transformation by src is caused by various mechanisms that interfere with this phosphorylation reaction, it has been suggested that the CSK gene could function as an anti-oncogene.
The CSK gene maps to human chromosome 15q23-q25. It is expressed ubiquitously in human tissues as 2 mRNA species of 2.6 and 3.4 kb, although in some tissues and cell lines, only the larger mRNA is detected.
