designation of a trout (Onchorynchus mykiss) CXC-Chemokine (Wiens et al, 2006). The trout CXCd1 protein contains 112 amino acids and the CXCd1 gene is comprised of four exons and three introns. CXCd1 mRNA is expressed Constitutively in skin, gill, visceral fat, and posterior kidney tissues. Low transcript levels are present in the anterior kidney and spleen. Expression of the gene is upregulated in the spleen following infection with viable Yersinia ruckeri, but not after challenge with infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus.
