This bioactive peptide (MAIPPKKNQDK) is derived from casein-kappa and corresponds to casein-kappa(106-116), a sequence contained within Caseinomacropeptide, which is another fragment derived from casein-kappa. The casoplatelin fragment has been shown to inhibit both aggregation of human platelets and binding of fibrinogen to platelets (Jollès et al, 1986). Bal dit Sollier et al (1996) have reported that Casoplatelin is an anti-aggregating peptide and shows significant antithrombotic activity in the guinea pig in vivo.
