Crabrolin is a tridecapeptide (FLPLILRKIVTALamide) isolated from venom sacs of the European hornet, Vespa crabro (Argiolas and Pisano, 1984). Crabrolin causes degranulation of mast cells and releases histamine from rat peritoneal mast cells. It also acts as an antimicrobial peptide (Krishnakumari and Nagaraj, 1997)
