DAPIN
[domain in apoptosis and interferon response] This protein domain has been found in diverse vertebrate and viral proteins involved in tumor biology, cell death by apoptosis, and inflammation (Staub et al, 2001). The domain assumes the same fold as the death domain and thus most likely functions as a protein-protein interaction motif.
The DAPIN domain is found in a variety of proteins the expression of which is inducible by interferons, in pyrin, and some other proteins. The DAPIN domain is known also as Pyrin domain or PAAD. For information on other protein domains
