[DAP kinase-related apoptosis-inducing protein kinase] Two genes encoding DRAK1 [DAP kinase-related apoptosis-inducing protein kinase-1] and DRAK2 [DAP kinase-related apoptosis-inducing protein kinase-2] have been cloned by Sanjo et al (1998).
DRAK1 has been renamed STK17A [serine/threonine protein kinase 17A], which is also the approved gene symbol. DRAK2 has STK17B [serine/threonine protein kinase 17B] as the approved gene symbol.
Both kinases are localized exclusively to the nucleus. Ectopic expression of DRAK1 or DRAK2
