This protein, termed also Decysin 1, is a member of the ADAM protein family of metalloproteases and is known also as ADAMDEC1 (approved gene symbol) (Mueller et al, 1997). The secreted protein differs from other members of this protein family by its partial lack of a disintegrin domain and the absence of a cysteine-rich domain (Bates et al, 2002). The cDNA encoding Decysin has been isolated from dendritic cells (Mueller et al, 1997). The gene is expressed widely. Upregulated expression of Decysin is observed during the maturation of dendritic cells. Bates et al (2002) and Mueller et al (2001) have reported expression in CD11c(+)
