[EBV induced gene-1; Epstein-Barr virus induced gene 1] This gene, among others, is expressed abundantly after infection of primary B-lymphocytes with EBV.
The cDNA sequence encodes a G-protein-coupled peptide receptor (Birkenbach et al, 1993). EBI-1 is expressed exclusively in B-cells and cell lines established from T-lymphocytes and in lymphoid tissues and is highly homologous to the IL8 receptors. The receptor appears to be identical also with blr-2. The new designation for this receptor is CCR7. The systematic name in the nomenclature of CD antigens is
