[fusion regulatory protein-2] FRP-2 has been identified originally as a glycoprotein of 130 kDa that regulates fusion of cells induced by Newcastle disease virus. Monoclonal antibodies directed against the protein enhance the susceptibility of cells to fusion activity of Newcastle disease virus. (Ito et al, 1992). Ohta et al (1994) have shown that FRP-2 is identical to integrin-alpha-3. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD49c.
