The mouse fjx1 gene is the homolog of the Drosophila melanogaster gene four-jointed (fj; gene CG10917), which encodes a partially secreted transmembrane type 2 glycoprotein that is a downstream target of the Notch signaling pathway in leg segmentation and planar cell polarity processes during eye development of Drosophila melanogaster.
