G4R1

[G4 resolvase 1] This enzyme is identical with DHX36 [DEAH box protein 36] (Vaughn et al, 2005). The activity resolves G4 structures into separate nucleotide strands for metabolic processing of G-rich sequences (Creacy et al, 2008; Lattmann et al, 2010; Giri et al, 2011). G4-DNA is a thermodynamically highly stable alternative DNA structure that can form spontaneously in guanine-rich regions of single-stranded DNA under physiological conditions. Such quadruplex structures result from stacking of guanine quartets in nucleic acids and are found near genetic control regions, including mRNA splicing and polyadenylation sites, promoter regions, and telomeres.
