[G-protein-coupled receptor-83] The gene encoding this G-protein-coupled receptor has been cloned by De Moerlooze et al. (2000), who identified it as the human ortholog of mouse Gir [glucocorticoid-induced receptor], an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor highly expressed in brain and thymus (Harrigan et al, 1991). The same gene has been cloned by Parker et al (2000), who referred to it as GPR72 [G-protein-coupled receptor-72]. The cDNA has been identified independently as KIAA1540.
Gomes et al (2016) have reported that GPR83 is the receptor for the neuroendocrine
