[glicentin-related pancreatic polypeptide] This peptide hormone (RSLQDTEEKSRSFSASQADPLSDPDQMNED) is encoded by the glucagon gene and comprises the N-terminal residues 1-30 of glicentin. It corresponds to PG(1-30) [proglucagon(1-30)] (see also: Holst, 1997). It has been isolated originally from porcine pancreas (Thim and Moody, 1981, 1982). The hormone is released from the precursor protein by protelytic cleavage (Holst, 1997).
