[human platelet antigen-4] In the nomenclature for platelet antigens (Metcalfe et al, 2003) this is the designation for the platelet glycoprotein GP3a. In the nomenclature of CD antigens the proteins has been given the designation CD61. HPA-4a [human platelet antigen-4a] (see: Yuk(b), Pen(a)) and HPA-4b [human platelet antigen-4b] (see: Yuk(a), Pen(b)) are alleles of the same protein. The single amino acid exchange in HPA-4 differs from that in HPA-1, which also affects CD61.
