[Insulin-like growth factor binding protein related protein-2] This cysteine-rich protein shares significant aminoterminal structural similarity with the conventional IGF binding proteins (IGFBP). This protein has been identified in the serum-free conditioned medium of Hs578T human breast cancer cells. The protein is found also in human normal sera, pregnancy sera, and cerebrospinal, amniotic, follicular and peritoneal fluids. Production of this protein in Hs578T-cells is upregulated by TGF-beta-2 (Yang et al, 1998). The protein is identical with IGFBP8 and hence with CTGF.
