IMUP-1

[immortalization-upregulated protein 1] IMUP-1 (106 amino acids) has been identified in senescent and SV40-immortalized WI-38 fibroblasts. Its expression is upregulated in immortalized cells. IMUP-2 [immortalization-upregulated protein 2] is a shorter variant of IMUP-1 (85 amino acids). IMUP-1 and IMUP-2 share 46 identical N-terminal amino acids but possess unrelated C-termini. Both genes are more frequently expressed in cancer cells than normal tissues and their expression has been shown to be upregulated in ovarian epithelial tumors (Kim et al, 2003).

Both proteins have been shown to be transported to the nucleus (Kim et al, 2000). The overexpression of both proteins in NIH 3T3 mouse fibroblast ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
