[KDR(+), KDR(-)]
[kinase insert domain receptor] A gene isolated from a cDNA library prepared from human endothelial cells (Terman et al, 1991; Matthews et al, 1991). It encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase. The human gene maps to chromosome 4q31.2-q32 and encodes a transcript of approximately 7 kb (Terman et al, 1991, 1992).
The KDR protein (systematic name: VEGFR2) is one of the receptors for VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and also binds VEGF-C, VEGF-D, and VEGF-E (Joukov et al, 1996; Quinn et al, 1993; Terman et al, 1992). Another ligand for KDR has been identified as
