[Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor 2DS5] A cDNA encoding this NK-cell type I transmembrane protein receptor of 304 amino acids has been cloned by Dohring et al (1996), who called it NKAT9 [NK-associated transcript-9]. The short cytoplasmic tail (39 amino acids) does not contain an ITIM motif, suggesting that this receptor is associated with NK-cell triggering rather than inhibition.
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD158g. See: CD158.
