This is the generic name for a group of biochemically uncharacterized proteins with cytolytic factor activity (Joag et al, 1989; Koningsberg and Podack, 1987). They are synthesized by cytotoxic T-lymphocytes together with other cytolytic proteins such as NKCF (natural killer cytotoxic factor) and Perforins. These proteins are involved in cell killing by LAK cells (lymphokine-activated killer cells). It has been suggested that these proteins may directly damage DNA.
