MACIF

[membrane attack complex inhibitory factor] called also MAC inhibitor. MACIF is a membrane glycoprotein which inhibits formation of membrane attack complexes of homologous complement (Davies et al, 1989). The gene has been cloned by Sugita et al (1989). It has been described also as HRF20. This antigen is identical with CD59. See also: CD antigens for general information.
