MC159
This protein is known also as M159L/M160L. MC159 protein encoded in the genome molluscum contagiosum virus (Senkevitch et al, 1977) and has been described as a viral immune evasion protein (Senkevitch et al, 1996). MC159 shows sequence similarity to the death effector domains of the FADD and Caspase-8, both of which are involved in signaling cell death by apoptosis initiated through FAS antigen (see: APO-1) and TNF receptor R1 (Bertin et al, 1997; Hu et al, 1997). MC159 has been shown to interact with FADD (Bertin et al, 1997).
