MCPIP

[MCP-1-induced protein; Monocyte chemotactic protein-induced protein]; also: MCPIP1 [MCP-1-induced protein 1; Monocyte chemotactic protein-1-induced protein-1]. The approved gene symbol for this protein is ZC3H12A [zinc finger CCCH domain-containing protein 12A]. MCPIP has been identified as a protein induced in monocytes by the chemokine CCL2 (MCP-1) (Zhou et al, 2006). The protein contains a zinc finger motif, a PIN domain, a ubiquitin-binding domain, and acts as a transcriptional activator. The protein has deubiquitinating activity (Liang et al, 2010).
