(approved gene symbol) [Membrane-spanning 4-domains subfamily A member 4A]; also: MS4A4 and MS4A7 in some databanks. In some databanks the designation CD20L1 [CD20-like-1] is used. Mouse and human genes together with many other members of this gene family with similar topology to tetraspanins have been cloned by Ishibashi et al (2001) and Liang and Tedder (2001). Liang et al (2001) have reported the existence of splice variants for MS4A4A.
Sanyal R et al (2017) have reported that MS4A4A is a surface marker for M2 macrophages and plasma cells.
