Maculatins
Maculatins are peptides isolated from the dorsal glands of the Australian tree frog Litoria genimaculata. Four maculatin peptides have antibiotic activity.
Maculatin 1.2 (GLFGVLAKVASHVVPAIAEHFQAamide),
maculatin 2.1 (GFVDFLKKVAGTIANVVTamide),
maculatin 3.1 (GLLQTIKEKLESLESLAKGIVSGIQAamide), with
maculatin 1.1 [21 residues, GLFGVLAKVAAHVVPAIAEHFamide] showing the most pronounced activity, particularly against Gram-positive
