[Murine collagenase-like B] The cDNA encoding this murine metalloproteinase (463 amino acids) has been cloned by Balbín M et al (2001). The encyme is 82 % identical with Mcol-A. Mcol-B is catalytically autoactivable but unable to degrade synthetic peptides and type I and II fibrillar collagen. The enzyme is expressed predominantly during mouse embryogenesis, particularly in mouse trophoblast giant cells.
