NIK

[NF-kappa-B-inducing kinase] This serine/threonine kinase is known also as MAP3K14 (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase-14). The NIK cDNA encodes a protein of 947 amino acids (Malinin et al, 1997). It is involved in the activation of transcription factor NF-kappa-B in response to TNF-alpha, IL1, and FAS antigen. NIK binds to the signal transducer TRAF2.

Yin et al (2001) have generated knock-out mice lacking expression of NIK. Mutant mice lack lymph nodes and an abnormal spleen and thymus architecture. Antibody responses upon immunization are diminished. An analysis of fibroblasts ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
