OX45

This monoclonal antibody detects a rat membrane protein of 43-45 kDa that plays a possible role in macrophage suppression of antigen-induced T-cell responses. The antibody reacts with most mature hematopoietic cells and their bone marrow precursors, vascular endothelium and some connective tissue (Arvieux et al, 1986). Killeen et al (1988) have cloned the gene encoding the OX45 antigen. The designation for the human protein is CD48.
